I see, but actually, most Kirby Personal licenses have actually been used in the past for projects that in reality needed a Pro license. There were only very limited use cases for personal licenses (which is the reason we got rid of them). If your project qualifies for a Kirby 3 discount (“Yes, students, educational projects, open-source projects or non-profit organizations can apply for a discount.”), then you may get in contact with support and apply for it, of course.
Can we apply for getting the free upgrade we were promised?
I’m really sorry that we didn’t communicate that clearer in that tweet. We always meant the Pro licenses and to post it that way was clearly a mistake on our end.
As @texnixe already pointed out, we had to remove the personal license as it was abused too many times for commercial and client projects and we weren’t able to stop that. This had a negative effect for us as a business and was just not fair for those who bought a v2 pro license.
But we stand with our word and if you really bought a personal license for a hobby or charity project you can apply for a free upgrade at support@getkirby.com. Please send the link to your v2 website in this case.
Otherwise the personal upgrade price is a super fair way for you to get a valid license for any commercial project. The upgrade price is less than the difference between the K2 personal license and the K2 pro license for those who bought after October 2017. You can upgrade it here: https://licenses.getkirby.com

ich habe eine Kirby 2 Personal License, die ich für eine Vereinsseite gekauft hatte, die es nicht mehr gibt.
Dann gibt es ein Webseitenprojekt, dass nun mal an den Start gehen soll. Auf der Webseite wird es thematisch um den Bereich gehen, in dem ich mein Geld verdiene, aber die Webseite soll absolut nicht dazu dienen, irgendwie damit Geld zu verdienen. Fällt das unter diese kostenlose Update-Möglichkeit oder muss ich die über über https://hub.getkirby.com/ updaten oder eine neue Basic-Lizenz kaufen?

Yes, you will have to update via the license hub, an update from Kirby 2 is not free.
