Kirby Reveal, Finally a real PREVIEW! šŸ˜

I just want to do a big thanks to @jenstornell the author behind the Reveal plugin https://github.com/jenstornell/kirby-reveal. ItĀ“s just pure awesomenes! The one thing that actually stopped me from using Kirby was the lack o preview before publishā€¦ All my clients more or less refused to use Kirby because of thisā€¦but now hell yes !! It works perfectly with @timoetting builder field https://github.com/TimOetting/kirby-builder.

So thanks again guys, @jenstornell, @timoetting for being awesome, you rock!! :grin:

i dontā€™t get it. this button is not enough?

Just open it in a new tab/winā€¦ for more fun just install a browser plugin/extension that reloads then page every 1-5 seconds. Always works for me.

uhm, you need to the save the page to view the changes, so the ā€œpreviewā€ button in the panel should actually be renamed to just ā€œviewā€, because there is no preview* before you saveā€¦ Thats why jens did the Reveal pluginā€¦

  1. DO YOUR CHANGES
  2. WATCH IT LIVE
  3. SAVE(PUBLISH)

Well if you create a new page, and the status ā€œInvisibleā€ you can view it and then make it visible, but if you want to do changes etcā€¦ and preview you changes before SAVE(Publish it to the world), and the bonus of the Reveal plugin is that it is a ā€œliveā€ preview, updates as you type etcā€¦ No need to go back and forth between tabsā€¦

Okā€¦ this sounds like a feature request:

preview button should submit the panel form content to the renderer without saving it. :wink:

@H-i Thank you so much! Thatā€™s the reaction I was hoping for. :smiley: I also got 4 extra stars on Github because of this post, so that worked well. Thanks! :slight_smile:

Because Iā€™ve not solved it on mult languages setups yet, I did not promote this plugin very much.

I wonder if the name ā€œKirby Revealā€ is a good name, or if itā€™s too cryptic?

  • Kirby Reveal (the current name is fine)
  • Kirby Splitview (inherit my old deprecated plugin name)
  • Kirby Live Preview
  • Something else (requires a comment)
  • I donā€™t know

(The name Kirby Preview Field is already taken by @texnixe and itā€™s using the ā€œengineā€ of Kirby Reveal, which is nice!)
