Convert file type on thumb creation

Is it possible to specify a file type while using thumb() or resize()? I couldn’t find anything in the docs, but thought I’d ask here first before delving into the source or coming up with a plugin.

This is not supported by the current thumb drivers. You could, however, write a custom driver.
