Open Link in New Tab in Textarea / Writer vs Textarea

Hey there,

I’m having a small issue regarding link formatting inside textarea fields. I’m really happy with the way editors can add links inside a writer field and for example set them to open in a new tab automatically. While this is also possible with markdown inside the Textarea field it’s not quite intuitive enough for most non-technical editors.
Is there a way to enable the open in new tab dialogue inside textareas as well or is this a writer-exclusive feature?

Maybe this can also be a discussion about the pros and cons of having two very capable but slightly different ways of authoring formatted text in Kirby. I often find myself struggling to choose between the two and generally go for the Textarea when the text will be long-form content and use the writer field when the text will be shorter with some optional styling.

Wondering if there could also be a future where both types are merged into one field type with options to either enable the styling-bar for a textarea-like feel or the styling-bubble for a writer-like feel. What are your thoughts on this?

Not that I’m aware of, but I agree those dialogs should offer the same options
