Is it possible to change options for smartypants dependent on the language?

I‘d like to change the smartypants configuration dependent on the used language on a multilanguage site. Is there a way to do that? The reason is, different languages have different rules for using doublequotes and I’d like to address that.

You can use language variable files. They don’t only support actual language variables, but you can use them to set Kirby options as well.
