Personally I think solutions like https://github.com/medienbaecker/kirby-simplemde is better.

That depends on your clients. Personally, I like the simplemde plugin very much. No Wysiwyg, but an easy way to insert links, images etc. and some basic styling. Can also be extended to support custom tags if necessary.
