Recommended provider for email newsletter?

Hi everyone,

After some delay, I’m thinking of migrating from Ghost to Kirby at last, and need to consider a workaround/replacement for an email newsletter provider.

Currently, I only send a free weekly digest on Sundays, and I doubt that will change for quite a while. Though, I will likely need to create a separate mailing list soon for my podcast, which I will be creating a page for on my Kirby website, so if that can be worked into this solution too, that would be great.

I’ve used before:

  • ConvertKit (now Kit)

And looking around here on the forum, I’ve seen:

  • Postmark
  • Mailjet
  • Mailchimp
  • Mailcoach

Any particular recommendations from other Kirby users in terms of ease of integration with Kirby?

PS. What’s the difference between an external newsletter service and an external email sending service? Postmark is mentioned to be the latter; I’m assuming Mailgun falls under this too?

From Advice on sending many emails (newsletter)

Are there particular advantages using external email sending services over external newsletter services? Is it something to do with more control over the data?

Thank you for your thoughts!

The difference between newsletter services and email sending services is mostly that the first allow you to manage your subscriber lists within their service and let them handle the generation of each individual personalized email, whereas the latter require you to generate and send each individual email from your own code.

Thanks for that clarification: This tells me I’d best stick to newsletter services, and Postmark is out I guess?

Does ConvertKit work easily/well with Kirby, by any chance? As I’ve looked through the forum, and no one else seems to have mentioned it, but aside from Postmark, it is the only one that is free for low numbers of subscribers.
