Option to hide entries in Structure Field?

It would be great if there is an option to show or hide entries in the structure field (like with blogs). Is there a trick or a plugin to do this without using a checkbox or a toggle field in an entry?
Or did I just not find the option?

It would also be great if the hidden entry was grayed out (opacity: 0.25), as with the blocks.

No, there is no such option. you could use a blocks field with a single block type instead, though.
