I’m using the Markdown field Plugin. When adding target:_blank to a link the text following this link gets wrapped in a span tag:
<span class="cm-em">I'm italic text</span>.

I just ran into the exact same issue and opened the issue here.
Edit: Some other user let me know, that this issue has already been opened before here, so I guess we can just hope that the developers will look into this at some point.
