Kirby 5 is here!

Hey everyone,

after 1.5 years of work, we are finally ready to release Kirby 5! :rocket:

It’s half a year later than we planned and we are very grateful for your patience and support.

We always try to focus on what really matters in your daily work and that of your clients. We believe that Kirby 5 is a significant step forward in this regard.

:crystal_ball: It’s more predictable with the new preview feature for your edits and the new file previews.
:writing_hand: It’s more usable with the new dark mode, batch delete, chunked uploads and additional UX enhancements.
:magic_wand: It’s more adaptable to your projects with the new entries field and the new view buttons.
:hammer_and_wrench: It’s more extensible for plugin developers, and we’ve made it easier to build paid plugins to create a more sustainable plugin environment.
:bullet_train: It’s faster and more secure, with support for PHP 8.4, a refactored form and content code, and various other under-the-hood improvements.

You can view all the new features on our release page: https://getkirby.com/releases/5

We’ve also fully updated our docs, kits and demo instances.

How to upgrade?
Many of you can probably run the regular update routine for their sites. There might be some breaking changes though and you should always run the upgrade in a local environment first. Please refer to our official upgrade guide for more information: http://getkirby.com/docs/guide/updates/update-to-v5

Just wanted to say thank you for this huge update. The versions and preview system lifts Kirby to a new level (and wider employment, I guess!). :sunflower:
