Hey everyone,
we have quite a big list of updates for you. Buckle up:
Kirby 5.2.0
As announced last week, Kirby 5.2 is ready:
https://github.com/getkirby/kirby/releases/tag/5.2.0
It’s a great release with new features, a big performance boost for the Panel and overall improvements for Kirby 5:
PHP 8.5 support
CORS support
New batch select mode for the checkboxes field
Collapse / expand all blocks
New create option for the files section
Better auto-labels in the Panel
Big performance boost for forms
Kirby 6.0.0-alpha.1 – Developer Preview
https://github.com/getkirby/kirby/releases/tag/6.0.0-alpha.1
Kirby 6 is still far away. We plan to release it in the second half of 2026 and it will be another big free upgrade for all Kirby 4+ license owners.
But we are already starting with the alpha phase today, to give you a very early developer preview (especially for our plugin developers) and to start collecting issues together with them.
If you are hoping for shiny new features, it’s still too early. This is preview all about our big migration to Vue 3, which has been quite a challenge. But this release is already running on Vue 3, which on its own is already a huge step for us. It’s working fine with the Starterkit and all our other test environments and it has some really important changes under the hood that will move Kirby forward in the coming years.
New features will be rolling out in the following months and we can’t wait to show you what we have in store for you.
But there’s more …
Kirby CLI 1.9.0
https://github.com/getkirby/cli/releases/tag/1.9.0
PHP 8.5 support for all kits
The Starterkit, Plainkit and Composerkit have all been upgraded to Kirby 5.2 and now also support PHP 8.5 ![]()
