Kirby 5.2.3 & February updates!

we are working on a lot of things in parallel at the moment and I wanted to give you a bit of an update:

Kirby 5.2.3

We took our time in January to fix a lot of bugs that have accumulated over time. We managed to get down from 156 issues to 106, which is great. It might sometimes seem like we just need to look into those issue reports and fix them - how hard can it be right? But they often turn out to be quite more complex to replicate and fix than you think. The last remaining 100 issues are pretty much glacier ice issues and extremely hard to get rid off. In fact, glacier ice might no longer be the best analogy for that.

A first set of fixes has now arrived in 5.2.3: https://github.com/getkirby/kirby/releases/tag/5.2.3

Kirby 5.3.0

The second set is included in Kirby 5.3.0, together with a couple nice features and enhancements. We are releasing the first release candidate today as well and the stable release will probably follow next week: https://github.com/getkirby/kirby/releases/tag/5.3.0-rc.1

Kirby 6.0.0-alpha.2

We also ran an experimental sprint for new Kirby 6 features and some of them already made it into our dev branch for Kirby 6. If you want to get more teasers, check out our #v6 channel on Discord, where we will keep posting more in the coming weeks. Alpha 2 is also supposed to be released in the next couple days. The final release is planned for the second half of 2026 and will be a free upgrade.

Kirby Konf

We are also getting more into detail with our Kirby Konf plans. Visiting the venue went great and we now have to figure out a couple more details, such as ticket system, beverage prices, audio equipment, insurance, etc. It turns out: events are more complicated than just hanging out together. Who would have thunk? We’ll keep you updated here as well. https://konf.getkirby.com
