Hi everyone,
Ask
I am new to developing with kirby and php and am looking for beginner-friendly explainer on how to (1) host the website, then (2) update the website after making small-ish backend changes (css, template php files, js), understanding that after launch the client will be making the majority of the content updates using the panel.
Project Details
I am building a site for an academic/researcher– so mostly text content, with probably fewer than 50 views a day, and almost no images / videos. For hosting, i am assuming i’ll need shared hosting plan, based in canada if that makes a difference, with a cPanel, i don’t need email, just getting the website online pointing to the domain and having the panel available and working for my client. Up to now, i’ve been working on the site from a local server, i’m on a mac, i already have the kirby license and domain.
All of my previous experiences have been working with git and github pages. I’ve read through many of the threads that suggest options people are using but they are still a bit over my head– i don’t yet understand how they all work together for example hosting with resync / github plugin?
I was hoping there might be an explainer or tutorial on the steps needed to get the website online, and the workflow (general step by step) on how to make backend updates (preferably using git and vs code).
These threads have been helpful and speak to the experience level i am at:

Apologies if there are already threads on this !
Any help appreciated ![]()
