Assigning wrong blueprint to new page

Hello! I’ve been trying to add a new page in the panel and have it automatically be assigned a certain template, but somehow it keeps on defaulting to another one instead. Could anyone enlighten me as to what I’m doing wrong? I have a feeling I have fundamentally misunderstood something about the way Kirby works, but can’t figure out what …

My templates below. I am trying to add pages with the “news.yml” applied:

Yet my new pages in the “news” folder still generate with project.txt instead of news.txt:

But also, it seems that these project.txts aren’t exactly following my project.yml template very closely either, as they’re missing quite a few fields:

My project.yml, with many more fields than what show up in the project.txt:

Your news page itself seems to be of the template/blueprint default based on your screenshot.

Could you please share that blueprint so we can see how the section is set up where you create new pages?

Hi @distantnative, thank you for your reply! This is what’s inside my default.yml:

title: Default Page

columns:
  main:
    width: 2/3
    sections:
      fields:
        type: fields
        fields:
          text:
            type: textarea
            size: huge
  sidebar:
    width: 1/3
    sections:
      pages:
        type: pages
        template: project
      files:
        type: files

I’m noticing now that it says “template: project.” Is this what’s causing the issue?

Yes, that filters the section to only display children with the project template. But it also means it will create new children with the project template/blueprint when you add a new page via that section.

That solved it, thank you!!
