Hi, I’m new to Kirby and to the forum. I’m completely blind and would like to build a website, dealing with braille-music-scores. The site has to be accessed by everyone, interested in music and the score-writing, created by Louis Braille. So there will be visiters with or without assistive technologies. The frontend of my site has to be accessible, following the guide-lines of the WCAG. I’m new to kirby and also can only get a screenreader-based impression concerning accessibility of the provided kirby-themes myself. So could you please recommand a theme that has accessibility? It’s not my first website and I have a basic understanding of html and css, but I wouldn’t like to code myself, because designing is difficult without any sight. That’s why I would rather concentrate on site-structure and contents and would be very glad about an accessible theme-recommandation to start with.
Whilst im not sure of a theme that is available that currently has accasability features to the level that you would require (I am guessing atleast AA standard?), I have raised your question over on the Kirby Discord sever for greater visibility in the hope that someone knows of a theme that can help you.
Feel free to join tthe dicussions over on the discord server yourself via this link https://chat.getkirby.com/
Are you using the Discord destop app or the browser based version? I have a feeling the browser based version without having the Discord desktop app installed might work work better with assistive technology.
Discord claims to be compliant with WCAG Level 2.1 AA in both the web based version and desktop as explained on their website, but from what you say, it seems like they still have some work to do!
I was pinged on Discord because I’m working in the field of accessibility and I’m using Kirby. But mostly to play around and keep my skills up to date. I don’t use themes.
The only thing I can offer to have a look for you at e.g. the Kirby theme or a theme you consider.
I run through the demo of Style Guide — Tablog because it’s very minimal. It’s o.k.-ish with some minor issues (lists and VoiceOver, some labels are missing (e.g. for tags). I’ve found a quote that wasn’t announced, but this may be a setting and a look a the images is needed.
@formspiel Thanks for chirping in and looking at themes. Michael mentioned in another post that he was considering the Zero One theme, not sure if that’s already settled.
