How come when images are cropped in Kirby they are set to 96dpi?
What makes you think that?
when I drag the images off the web and load them in photoshop they say 96dpi.
The pixel dimensions are correct its just 96 dpi.
dpi is not a relevant unit for the web. It’s just pixels.
It makes the file size larger - if the images were 72dpi they would be a lot smaller filesize.
This is an image downloaded from my server that was generated by Kirby.
And this is the same image after I adjusted the DPI to 72
To make sure macos didn’t do any type of fuckery I did use imageoptim to remove anything extra (that’s because the updated one was quite a lot bigger than the original 96dpi one)
As you can see, not only they’re almost the same identical size but the original 96dpi one is juuuuuust a bit smaller.
The thing is, DPI when it comes to the web really doesn’t matter all that much.
