I just did a quick test with a fresh Kirby install and noticed performance issues compared to earlier versions.
• Downloaded clean Starterkit
• Ran composer update
• Only changed .htaccess to RewriteBase / (needed on IONOS)
• Called the frontend and panel once to generate all media files
• But overall the site (frontend and panel) feels slower than before
• Already tried to switch local internet connection + 5G connection
Yes, it’s really slow. Admittedly, the Starterkit is not super optimized. However, what I see in the dev tools network tab is slow server response times for some resources, which points to some server issue rather than anything Kirby related.
I also tested on another client account with a subdomain and got the same behavior, so it really looks like the issue is related to IONOS. Their support says everything is fine on their side though. A few days ago everything was running perfectly smooth, and I’m already on the highest performance level available at IONOS (on both my own and client accounts). This was the reason to test with a complete new starterkit, but again with same behavior.
I’m wondering if any other Kirby users are experiencing similar problems right now?
And do you have any tips or things I could still try to improve the performance on IONOS?
