Where can I find older versions of Kirby for Download? We have a windows server with PHP 5.4.19 and it is not compatible with the latest version of Kirby. Unfortunately our IT department will not update PHP or give access to do so, so this would be our only option.
You can download older versions from Github
Your IT dept. should be notified that PHP 5.4 was EOL since 2015 IIRC.
Refusing to update is gross negligence imho.
I 1000000000000% agree with you, however I’m not the CEO.
Excellent, thank you.
You are welcome, but don‘t blame it on Kirby if you get hacked. Not only is your PHP version not secure, but you also miss out on Kirby‘s security fixes when xou use an old version. Depending on your use case, you might be better off with putting your Kirby installation on a different host, it will be only a small monthly sum well invested.
@ZW_CCF As your company seems to be windows based, do they happen to subscribe to Azure? You can spin up a linux container on the Azure platform and get around this whole problem I had the same situation at a previous company and that’s how I got around it.
Unfortunately not an option. Some history here for all the IT folks who shake their head and facepalm at this post:
Our IT dept. is overseen by the draconian rule of an ex-NSA employee. There is no arguing with that person, and there are no exceptions. Even though I have 10+ years of experience as a systems engineer on linux platforms, they refuse to allow a linux install on our network and getting a new VM requires an act of God. I am reserving my personal opinions and will summarize by simply saying “if there was a better option, I would have done it.”
Thank you for the timely responses and suggestions. I can use Github to work with an older version until we can convince them to update PHP, which will likely take months.
Especially for NSA employees security should come first
hm… cannot see anything else than tag 3.0.0 … i am currently running php 7.0.25 and am not quickly able to change that. any suggestions?
With the release of Kirby 3, older versions have been moved to https://github.com/getkirby-v2/starterkit/releases
Thanks! How about the documentation for V2?
Is the Changelog from v2 still available? Would be great to see what’s changes between the different releases. I remember seeing this on the website a couple of weeks back (before release of v3).
No, it’s not online anymore, but you can find it here: https://github.com/getkirby-v2/getkirby.com/tree/master/content/changelog
If you download or clone the repo and install in a local server, you can view it all offline…
