Some required select fields show a gray bar as first option

Both are required select fields but one is showing a gray bar I’ve noticed this inconsistency here and there, known bug? Or am I missing something

I’ve identified what causes this. If a select field is required but without a default value, it will have the gray bar.

Yep, that’s right. It doesn’t always make sense to preselect a default value.
