Hi, I am very new to Kirby and have finished my first project which will be released soon. The docs are pretty good and are speeding up my development process. Thanks a lot at this point.
I organise a monthly meetup called pixeltalk.io in Leipzig with my friends. Flat file CMS, especially Kirby should be a topic this year.
Now I have a question about insurance for a meetup. It is organised privately in a public coworking called basislager. There is no entrance fee for the meetup. The coworking gives us the conference room for free, but they want an organiser’s liability insurance.
Is this really necessary and how do other Kirby meetups deal with this?
Welcome to Kirby and the Kirby meetup scene We from Present Progressive ran two meetups in DĂĽsseldorf with hopefully more to come. Not once have we been asked for insurance by the venue, even though we organised the Meetup as a company and have insurance (though I doubt running events would have been covered by this )
That said, I consider the risk to be fairly low anyways (no legal advice, though )
Did the co-working space mention any specific concerns?
Hi Benzim, thanks for your reply! I have had some conversations with other meetups. None of them have an insurrance. Maybe they are covered by an association or have declared it as a business so that the business insurance kicks in, like yours.
I think coworking doesn’t want to take the risk of having people for free. So they put the insurance clause in the contract.
