I’m trying to use AVIF images. I’ve used phpinfo.php and can see that AVIF is enabled on the server
The server is creating AVIF images. Here’s the info about one of the images I’ve downloaded from the site:
But the AVIF images are bigger file sizes than the same dimensions and quality JPG and WebP images.
Any ideas why?
setting the same quality level (like 82) for all formats will yield to different filesizes AND different visual quality. I found this article interesting to better understand and see how each format behaves (visually) given a certain quality setting.

I’m still surprised that an 80% quality JPEG is smaller than an 80% quality AVIF – I wasn’t expecting that.
