By default, the modal window for the link button of the writer field displays an option to open the link in a new tab: [writer-field-link-modal] Forcing a new window/tab is bad for accessibility unless handled gracefully (which editors are unlikely to do). I’d like to remove that option altogether…

The easiest would probably be to hide it via CSS in your custom Panel stylesheet
