Encrypt in email password in config file. Nessesary?

Hey.
I was wondering if it might be necessary or advisable to encrypt the email password in the email transport configuration in the config file?

In my use case, I would set up a nonresponse mail. There is not much to do harm, but anyway it feels strange to write a password in clear text.

You cannot send an encrypted password to the server. So yes, you have to store it in plain text.

Ideally, you would store it in an .env file outside the web root, but that’s usually not possible on shared hosting.
