Allow to delete media files

Could someone guide me on what would be the best way to give a client access to permanently delete unused media files from the site? I know one way would be to give access to the /media folder via FTP to make this possible – but is there any more practical way to do this within the panel, for example? Thanks in advance

Might make the most sense to do a full text search in the content file for the file UUID, to find out if a file is used anywhere in a given page. Might get more complex if files from page x are also used in page Y.
